Baptism

God’s resounding ‘YES’

Baptism is God’s visible and tangible declaration of love for you or your child. God walks with you through the high points of your life and remains by your side even in the lowest moments. In baptism, God says an unconditional ‘yes’ to you, and in baptism you say ‘yes!’ to God, to life and to our world. Baptism is the rite of initiation into the Protestant Church, but it is more than that; it is the rite of entry into the global community of Christians. Through the element of water, baptism is one of the most sensory ways of experiencing God’s blessing. Jesus himself was baptised in a river. When we baptise with water today, we feel and experience the great power that lies in this ritual. You or your child can be baptised anywhere there is water: in church, by the River Ruhr, at Lake Baldeney or in the paddling pool in the garden.

Does your family also involve a mix of different denominations, religions, cultures or languages? We’d be happy to work with you to organise a suitable baptismal service. We also have multilingual colleagues on our team. We strive to ensure that no one is left out.

The Protestant Church baptises children and adults of all ages.
